Non-sterile compounding is the art and science of creating and preparing a medication that is individualized to meet the unique needs of the patient. Compounding services may be required or beneficial for:
· Patients who need a strength of medication that differs from that is commercially available.
· Patients who need a prescription in a different form, such as changing a capsule to a liquid.
· Patients who cannot swallow may need a medicine with an alternate route.
· Patients with allergies to dyes, preservatives, alcohol, or fillers.
We specialize in:
· Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy in the form of topical creams, vaginal creams, mucosal troches, and capsules. We can build various formulations that may include any combination of Estradiol, Estriol, Testosterone, Progesterone, and/or DHEA.
· Topical Pain creams, gels, and ointments.
· Pediatric medication suspensions and solutions.
· Veterinary medications with pet-approved flavors and pet-friendly ingredients.
· Magic Mouthwash Suspensions.
· Promethazine topical gels.
We are also able to compound other dosage forms such as suppositories, serums, sublingual drops, and pastes.
BHRT stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement therapy, also known as natural hormone replacement. The hormones are derived from plant sources -yam and soy. Once they are extracted from their natural source, these hormones are refined so that they are identical to the human hormone molecule.
BHRT fits the body's receptor like a key in a lock. Our bodies contain the right enzymes to break down and metabolize these hormones properly and efficiently, directing them to the proper receptor sites. The idea of BHRT is to maintain proper hormone balance.
Since the process of compounding prescriptions is much more involved than the filling of typical prescriptions, it does take longer for your compounded prescriptions to be ready for pickup. Reasons for this may include but are not limited to:
While we work hard to get your compound to you as soon as possible, we ask that you drop your compound prescription off and/or request refills on your compounded medications at least 2 business days before needed. This allows our compounding technician to make sure everything is done correctly and accurately.
We process all compounded medication prescriptions under our prescription discount billing program. Although we do not bill insurance for your compounded medications, we can provide you with a claim form that you can submit to your insurance company to possibly obtain reimbursement. If this is something you would be interested in, just ask!
